Along the way

The route runs through the typical landscape of the region: limestone rocks, river valleys and forests. There are also many churches and chapels along the way, including the pilgrimage site of Buchenhüll near Eichstätt.

There is no fixed division into stages. At around 20 kilometres a day you should allow six to seven days. You can read more about sensible daily distances in our article How far do you walk on a pilgrimage? You can get up-to-date maps from the Altmühltal Nature Park Information Centre in Eichstätt.

Why this route is good for beginners

Unlike on the Ways of St James, you can reach the goal here in a week. You cross a whole region and arrive at a real place of pilgrimage, which makes for a complete pilgrimage week.
