Moselle Camino (Mosel-Camino)

In short: Moselle Camino (Mosel-Camino): from Koblenz-Stolzenfels to Trier, St Matthias. Length: around 160 to 180 km, duration: 8 days. Best time: April to October.
Overview
The Moselle Camino links the Rhine at Koblenz with Trier. In eight stages you cross the slopes along the Moselle, through vineyards and past castles. Figures for the length vary between around 160 and 180 kilometres depending on the source.
The goal is St Matthias' Abbey in Trier with the tomb of the Apostle Matthias, the only apostle's tomb north of the Alps. Many pilgrims walk the route for this reason alone, rather than as a section on the way to Santiago.
The climbs from the valley up to the heights keep coming, and you will feel them in your legs. In return, almost every evening ends in a wine village. The railway runs parallel to the Moselle, so sections are easy to plan.
Main stops: Stolzenfels, Moselle valley, Trier.
High above the Moselle
The route rarely stays down by the river and mostly runs over the slopes and heights. That means many short, steep climbs, with wide views over vineyards and castles in return. The route is especially lovely in autumn at grape harvest time.
Trains and stages
The railway along the Moselle reaches many towns, so you can skip single days or walk at weekends. Wine villages have plenty of guesthouses, but they book up quickly in autumn.
