Mount Sinai

In short: Mount Sinai: from St Catherine's Monastery to Summit of Mount Moses (2,285 m). Length: around 7 km, duration: one night. Best time: October to April.
Overview
According to biblical tradition, Moses received the Ten Commandments on this mountain. At its foot stands St Catherine's Monastery, one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monasteries in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Most visitors climb at night to see the sunrise from the top. There are two paths: the Camel Path with its gentle gradient and the steep Steps of Repentance with over 3,000 stone steps.
It is cold at the top at night, so take warm clothing and a headlamp. Special travel advice applies for Sinai, and a visit is usually possible only with a local guide.
