Camino de Levante

Cartoon pilgrim on a wide plain with windmills like those in La Mancha

In short: Camino de Levante: from Valencia to Zamora. Length: around 800 to 900 km, duration: 6 to 7 weeks. Best time: Spring and autumn.

Overview

The Camino de Levante links the Mediterranean with the west of Spain. It begins in Valencia and crosses La Mancha via Toledo, Ávila and Medina del Campo to Zamora. There it meets the Vía de la Plata.

The route is long and lonely, but with Toledo and Ávila it has two of the most beautiful cities in Spain. In between lie days of vineyards and the windmills of La Mancha.

Albergues are few and far between, especially in the first part, so this is no route for a first pilgrimage. If you already have experience, you will find a lot of peace here.
